Make a baby shower invitation
A baby shower invitation is usually sent by someone other than the person it is for, which shapes everything about it — the host's name goes on the card, and the replies come to them.
Godh bharai and a baby shower are the same celebration with different customs around it. Both are typically held in the seventh or eighth month, when the mother is comfortable enough to enjoy a few hours of company.
What goes on the card
- Who it is for, and who is hosting
- “A godh bharai for Diya, hosted by her sister” answers both questions in one line and tells guests who to reply to.
- Date, time and how long
- Showers work best short — two to three hours. An end time is a kindness to the mother as much as to the guests.
- The venue, and whether it is a surprise
- If it is a surprise, say so plainly and give an arrival time that is earlier than the real one.
- What guests should bring
- If there is a registry, a theme, or a request for books instead of cards, the invitation is the only place people will look for it.
- RSVP to the host, not the mother
- The whole point of hosting is that she does not spend the fortnight before counting heads.

Design notes
Soft is the convention — blush, sage, cream, pale gold — and it suits the occasion, but it is not compulsory. A brighter card stands out in a chat full of pastel ones.
Avoid announcing the baby's sex on the invitation unless the parents have asked for it. Plenty of families would rather not, and a card is hard to take back.
Motifs do a lot of work here: a pram, a small floral corner, a scattering of hearts. One motif repeated is calmer than several different ones.

Common questions
Is the baby shower invitation maker free?
Yes. Every template and every download is free, there is no watermark, no trial and no account to create. The editor runs in your browser, so there are no servers rendering your design and nothing that has to be paid for per invitation.
When should a baby shower invitation be sent?
Three to four weeks before the date. The shower itself is usually held in the seventh or eighth month, so working backwards from that puts the invitation somewhere in the sixth or seventh.
Should the invitation say whether it is a boy or a girl?
Only if the parents have said they want it on there. Many families prefer not to, and it is the sort of detail that is awkward to correct once a card is in fifty chats.
